Startories GDPR Notice

Last updated: September 26, 2026

This notice explains how Startories, operated by Nzoni App LLC ("Startories", "we", "us" or "our"), processes personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR. It completes our Privacy Policy.

1. Our role

  • Controller for customer data: we decide how account, project, billing and usage data of our customers is used to run the Service.
  • Controller for signal discovery: we collect public business information (posts, launches, company and professional details) to detect buying intent and build leads.
  • Processor for customer campaigns: when we deliver leads to a customer project and run outreach, reply handling and follow-ups for that customer, we act on the customer's instructions. The customer is the controller for that outreach and is responsible for its lawfulness. A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available on request.

3. Information for prospects (Art. 14)

If you received an email sent through Startories, or your business details appear in a customer's leads:

  • Your data comes from public sources (such as Reddit, X, Product Hunt, directories, company websites and search results) and from lawful business data providers.
  • It is used only to contact you in your professional role about products relevant to your company.
  • You can object at any time: reply "unsubscribe" to the email or contact us. We stop the outreach, keep a record of your objection so you are not contacted again through that project, and can delete your other data on request.
  • You can ask which customer received your data and what we hold about you.

4. Sub-processors

  • Stripe: payments and subscriptions.
  • Google: Google Sign-In and the Gemini API (website analysis, reply drafting).
  • Typesage (Jev): classification of incoming emails.
  • Email providers such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365: sender mailboxes used for campaigns.
  • Hosting, database, analytics and support providers.

An up-to-date list is available on request. We require each provider to protect personal data under terms consistent with the GDPR.

5. International transfers

Some providers process data outside the EEA and the UK, including in the United States. We rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where a provider is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum, with additional safeguards where needed.

6. Retention

  • Customer account and project data: for the life of the account. An expired project stays read-only so it can be renewed, and is deleted on request.
  • Prospect and campaign data: while the related customer project needs it, and deleted on request or with the project.
  • Opt-out records: kept as long as needed to honor the objection.
  • Billing records: for the period required by tax and accounting law.

7. Security

Access to customer projects is restricted per account, sensitive settings (such as sender mailboxes) are limited to our administrators, connections are encrypted and mailbox passwords are encrypted at rest. We notify the supervisory authority and affected people of personal data breaches as required by Articles 33 and 34.

  • Rectification: correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: have your data deleted in the cases set by law.
  • Restriction: limit how we use your data.
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
  • Portability: receive data you gave us in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing relies on consent.

Contact us at click to show email. We answer within one month. When we process your data as a processor for a customer, we forward your request to that customer and help them answer it.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the country where you live or work.

9. Customers: your responsibilities
